Smith Apologetic Over Expenses.

Ex Home Sec Says She's Sorry.

Cunt

At least Mr Brown is paying money back. Jacqui Smith yesterday gave only an apology, and a mealy-mouthed one at that, after the Standards and Privileges Committee castigated her for wrongly designating the room she occupied in her sister's London house as her principal residence.

Miss Smith will not have to reimburse a penny of the £120,000 claimed over a four-year period beyond the several hundred pounds she has already repaid to cover claims for films watched by her husband

The committee's pusillanimous response will do nothing to persuade an already cynical public that MPs recognise and understand why they feel so aggrieved.

Some MPs are even considering legal action to avoid being forced to repay money. But the rules clearly stated that an allowance was payable to reimburse MPs for "costs properly incurred in the performance of their duties" and not, as many seemed to believe, as a tax-free opportunity to enhance their incomes. Until they understand there is a moral dimension to this affair, it will continue to haunt this wretched parliament all the way to the election.

Jacqoffs Off.

Jacqui Smith is expected to stand down as home secretary in a reshuffle, Whitehall sources have told the BBC.

Next step should be arrest and a court appearance at her own expense.
Then maybe extradition to the USA to face Michael Savage.

Another Day, Another Legal Action For Jacqboots Smith

HOME Secretary Jacqui Smith is being sued by a British man who claims she allowed his torture while he was being held on suspicion of terrorism in Bangladesh.

Jamil Rahman, a civil servant who grew up in Wales, claims he was interrogated by MI5 officers in between beatings by Bangladesh security forces.

Mr Rahman said he gave false confessions, including one that he masterminded the 2005 terror attacks on London.

He said he was detained in 2005 by a Bangladeshi intelligence agency and was stripped and beaten. He alleges he made the false confession before being questioned by two men who said they were from MI5.

Final Nail In Jacqui Smith's Coffin

Ms Smith was in the firing line today for failing to grasp the scale of the threat of defeat. A setback on an opposition motion is almost unprecedented.

As the prospect of defeat loomed, the Home Secretary made two last-minute concessions - a block on deporting 200 Gurkhas and a shake-up of the rules before the summer recess.

But her compromise was not sent out until after 3pm, when the debate was drawing to a close and when many Labour MPs were away from their computers.

Graham Stringer, a Labour backbencher, said the concessions answered '85 to 90 per cent' of his concerns, but said the email arrived too late to stop the rebellion's momentum.

He said: 'If it had come 48 hours earlier, this wouldn’t have happened.'

Jacqui Smith Should Take Time to Read This.

Simon Jenkins on the message of Wankergate

Sweet is the spectacle of a home secretary bitten by her own snake. The outrage of Jacqui Smith's television expenses claim lies not in its content, lurid as it is, but in the way it was exposed. How many times must the home secretary have been assured in security briefings that her latest purchase of some data storage gizmo was "totally secure"?

"Don't worry," the briefers would have said, "the material will be protected by the finest firewalls, the most foolproof anti-hacking devices and the most savage legal defence. Nothing will be transferable and only the highest in the land will have access. Besides, home secretary, as you have so often said, the innocent have nothing to fear."

Yes, they do. They have the revelation of their husband's taste in movies, apparently leaked by contractors in receipt of easily copied discs, now on offer to anyone with £300,000.

Dear Jacqui, Quit While You Are Still Behind.

The Times has learnt that MPs are expected to call in the police today over how a copy of an invoice from her Virgin TV and internet account, submitted to the Commons as part of an expenses claim, came to be published in a Sunday newspaper.

Some MPs believe that digital images of all MPs’ invoices, which have been scanned for release later this year, may have been stolen and are being offered to newspapers for money. The suggestion will cause anger and fear among MPs, who have been campaigning against the release of this information.

Dear Jacqui, do you remember these words?

The plans I am publishing today inject a new momentum into the delivery of the scheme and its benefits. Our plans will now provide both the protections and the convenience of the scheme more quickly than previously expected. As the latest public attitudes analysis I am releasing today shows, public support for our proposals has remained broadly steady - at nearly 60 per cent - even after a series of high-profile government data losses.

Do you believe that the public are still onside after you lost control of your own data and that of your poor husband?

I am convinced that our increased awareness as a nation of the dangers of data loss and identity fraud makes the case for participation in the national identity scheme more pressing, rather than less. It doesn't get much more personal than personal information - and we should all be concerned at the potential for information to end up in the wrong hands, or to be used for unforeseen purposes.

Bet your having second thoughts on that statement now! It wasn't "unforseen circumstances" that you should have been worried about. It was the forgone conclusion that you were going to get bitten in the arse by statements like that!

That concern should make us question closely those who are charged with managing our personal information on our behalf. And it should make us think carefully about the responsibilities they have to live up to.

Oops! You are the weakest link, now fuck off.

Some claim that recent cases highlight the difficulty of entrusting sensitive information to anyone, let alone the state. I will argue today that it is precisely because of public's interest in secure identity that we need more effective mechanisms for protecting identity and safeguarding personal information.

You still here Jacqui?

What about this extract?

'The Last Enemy' transports us to a Britain of the not-too-distant future, where personal information has become the weapon of a surveillance state against its own citizens, and where a super-database called 'TIA - Total Information Awareness' appears to fuse state of the art technology with a rather draconian reinterpretation of the art of the state.

It all makes for a good drama. But - to turn an old adage on its head - we should never allow a good story to get in the way of the facts. When we return to the real world after an hour or two in front of the telly, how useful are these fictions for our daily interactions as citizens with government?

Well Bob errr, I mean Richard probably has a bit more of an idea now.

How much of ourselves do we recognise in these champions of individual liberty, as we pursue our own personal missions with bureaucracy to pay our tax bill or register a change of address?

Or claim your expenses from the long suffering taxpayer?

You have been found out Jacqui. You cannot be trusted to protect your own personal information, let alone, that of the long suffering general public. You haven't a clue what you are doing, or why you've been doing it. You just took the money and bent over, face in trough and allowed your masters to fuck you over, at the same time as you were shafting us.

All the best in your new job (if you can find one) Lawson.

Second Home Secretary Ambushed by Nasty Woman.

Sandra Holey, chief executive of Refuge laid the boot in at High Profile launch of the Home Secs latest piece of divisive and authoritarian bollocks.

“The Government is hoping to get away with useless initiatives like this register and it is hypocritical to sound tough and do little.”

Ms Smith attempted to interrupt the tirade but she was shouted down and Ms Holey continued, insisting that the recent case of Sabina Akhtar showed that not enough was being done.

"I’m afraid this is just spin and PR. . . The majority of violent men don’t come to the attention of police and it won’t keep women safe.

“Police can’t be expected to monitor relationships and love lives of offenders.”

It's okay though, The Solicitor General saved her from further assaults.

This Quote:

And those of us with brains can see this shit for exactly what it is, vote grabbing. Sexist vote grabbing. Sexist vote grabbing by females. It’s just shite.

Might give you a bit of clue where you're going wrong Jacqui.

The Lambs Have Turned.

Lamb 'head-butted golden eagle'

"A lamb was seen head-butting a golden eagle, one of Scotland's largest birds of prey, according to a new report on island birdlife.
The lamb head-butt incident is recorded in an official report"
Well Jacqui and Co, I guess you may be starting to appreciate just how confused and bewildered
that eagle felt!
Some of Brighton's Finest are also getting an idea of what it's like to be bitten in the butt by the "Surveillance State."
"One policeman, who did not want to be named, said: 'This is taking things too far. We use CCTV to catch criminals, not officers who take a quick break from a punishing job."
Well if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, eh?
Maybe you could give some support to this landlord
whose livlihood is threatened by similar behaviour by you masters?
"A prospective pub landlord says the police insistence on him installing CCTV cameras to film everyone entering his pub threatens his customers' civil liberties.

Nick Gibson says he has been in a "silent rage" since the police outlined conditions to his licence application, which also requires him to hand over any film of drinkers on request.

"I have been spitting teeth ... since I first heard of this request, but at every turn I am alternately advised to keep my head down or laughed at for my naivety," said Gibson, who plans to reopen the Drapers Arms in Islington, north London, in April."
You don't like it when it's your turn do you?

Jacqui Smith May Soon Be Out of a Job.

Looks like the writing may be on the wall for Jacqui.

From the Sunday Times

"THE home secretary, Jacqui Smith, has privately indicated that she fears for her political future, amid Tory claims that she is “out of her depth” and speculation among MPs that Gordon Brown may want to replace her.

People who work closely with Smith are now openly casting doubt on her track record and her chances of surviving an expected summer cabinet reshuffle."

But there's no one to check
